LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach authorities say it's safe to go back in the water.
Four miles of beaches that were declared off-limits to swimmers and waders after a 2.4 million-gallon sewage spill upstream reopened Friday.
Health officials say two days of testing found no excessive levels of bacteria in ocean waters.
A mile of shoreline in nearby Seal Beach reopened Thursday.
A buried pipe near downtown Los Angeles collapsed Monday, causing a blockage that spilled raw sewage.
Crews managed to contain, divert or vacuum at least 750,000 gallons but the rest reached the Los Angeles River, which flows to the coast.
No illnesses have been reported from the spill.
