Police arrest man accused of selling false cure for cancer

MANASSAS, Va. — Authorities have arrested a Virginia man accused of selling people a false cure for cancer.

Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok tells news outlets that 67-year-old Peter Bodunrin Adeniji has been charged with obtaining money by false pretenses, operating a medical practice without a license, dispensing drugs without a license and money laundering.

Police say Adeniji discouraged traditional cancer treatments, making fraudulent statements to sell his medication for $1,200 per bottle, but the medication wasn't what he claimed it to be. The FBI is analyzing it.

Lynchburg Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Doucette tells The Washington Post Adeniji was previously convicted for similar actions elsewhere in Virginia.

Adeniji is being held without bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

Police are asking people who went to Adeniji to contact authorities.
