Metro Police today announced the arrest of a suspect linked to the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy at an east valley apartment complex on May 16.

Terlmaine Weaks, 23, was identified by Metro six days after the slaying of Jhronne Maddox at the Silverwood Apartments on Nellis Boulevard, near Vegas Valley Drive.

That same day, he was arrested by a fugitive task force, composed of Los Angeles police officers, in San Pedro, Calif., police said.

Officers found Maddox gravely wounded about 7 p.m. after receiving calls of gunshots, police said. He died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

An investigation determined Maddox was walking with another person when they were approached by two armed people, police said. Something was shouted before shots were fired by the two people, one presumably being Weaks.

Weaks is booked in a California jail awaiting extradition to Las Vegas, police said
