Apartment catches fire near Maryland Parkway, D.I.

No one was injured after an apartment caught fire near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road Wednesday afternoon, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Arriving crews encountered heavy smoke billowing from a floor-level unit about 4:30 p.m. at 1053 Lisbon Ave, fire officials said.

The blaze was extinguished in about 10 minutes, officials said. The displaced residents, one adult and two children, were being helped by the Southern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross.

Damage was estimated at about $25,000, officials said.
