Disney officials plan new hotel in Anaheim

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disneyland officials have submitted plans to add a fourth Disney-themed hotel in Anaheim, taking advantage of the city's new policy giving tax incentives for building luxury hotels.

The Orange County Register reports (http://bit.ly/1Uy7lQ3 ) that Disney has proposed a 700-room, four-diamond hotel. Construction would start in 2018 and the opening would be scheduled for 2021.

It would be the first hotel built on the Disneyland Resort in nearly 20 years.

The average nightly rate would be about $450.

Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the hotel "would create thousands of jobs and benefit Anaheim with more than $750 million in additional tax revenue over the next four decades." Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait says he's "very disappointed" that Disney is applying for the tax incentive, saying the company doesn't need it.
