Nevada State College exceeds initial fundraising goal

Nevada State College is about to conclude the first fundraising campaign in school history and it has raised nearly double its goal.

The school, situated along the outskirts of the desert in Henderson is projecting that it will have raised $17 million by the end of June. The original goal was only $10 million, set two years ago when the campaign started.

Since then, the money raised helped the campus open two new buildings last fall and award full-ride scholarships to 120 students.

In a media release, NSC President Bart Patterson credited the Nevada State College Foundation with delivering the results.

“Our Nevada State College Foundation board members are the engine powering our fundraising efforts, and they aren’t slowing down anytime soon,” Patterson said in a statement. “Already, the foundation is making a huge direct impact on our community by providing a traditionally underserved population with an exceptional education on a beautiful campus.”

On the horizon is another fundraising campaign, this time to gather $6 million for a new building for the School of Education. The campaign will start in 2017.
