Metro Street Robbery Slaying

At a news conference Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, Metro Police Lt. Dan McGrath discusses the robbery and slaying of a man who was walking home Saturday from work in the in the 4600 block of Grande Mirada Way.

Metro Police need the public’s assistance in finding a car that might be linked to a fatal robbery in which a man was slain while walking home from work in February.

The vehicle, seen in surveillance videos released by police, is described as a silver and newer four-door sedan, the Police Department said in a news release.

According to police:

On Feb. 20, Heriberto Diaz Marcial, 60, was gunned down in the 4600 block of Grande Mirada Way, a few houses from his home.

Investigators later said that his death may be linked to armed robberies in the area in which a group of four or five boys ages 16 to 18 are suspects.

About 1:15 a.m., about 15 minutes after Marcial Diaz got off a bus on Lake Mead Boulevard, first responders were dispatched to the shooting where they found him gravely wounded from a gunshot in the chest.

He died at a hospital.

The robbers only took his cellphone.

A few days after the shooting, police gathered at the scene of the shooting to plead with the teens who might be involved but didn’t pull the trigger. “You can help yourself,” Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said.

No arrests have been announced.
