Report: Postal worker shot, killed in Northern Nevada

YERINGTON — Authorities say a U.S. Postal Service delivery worker was killed on the job in northern Nevada.

Lyon County sheriff's officials tell KRNV-TV in Reno that 26-year-old Johnie Shadden was fatally shot about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at an address in rural Mason Valley, near Yerington.

Officials told the station that Shadden was on her normal delivery route at the time, and that her death was being investigated by the sheriff, U.S. Postal Service and FBI.

No information was reported about the circumstances, or whether anyone was in custody.

KRNV said Sheriff Al McNeil called the shooting isolated and said there was no ongoing threat to the community.

An FBI spokeswoman in Las Vegas had no immediate information, and postal inspectors in Reno and Las Vegas didn't immediately respond to messages.
