1 dead, 1 injured in central-valley apartment shooting

Metro Police are investigating an early-morning shootout at a central valley apartment that left a man dead and another injured.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Swenson Street, near Twain Avenue, just after 3 a.m., Metro said in a release.

Police said two people were inside an apartment when an armed man forced his way in. One of the two residents grabbed a gun and shot the man dead, but not before the intruder shot and wounded the unarmed resident.

The intruder was declared dead on scene, police said, and the injured resident was taken to Sunrise Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Saturday’s shooting is the 37th homicide investigated by Metro this year. The man will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Metro is urging anyone with information to contact its homicide section at 702-828-3521 or [email protected]. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555, or crimestoppersofnv.com.
