Two vacant homes catch fire

An abandoned house caught fire early Sunday morning near South Eastern Avenue and East Sunset Road, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Also according to the fire department:

Fire crews responded about 3:50 a.m. to 1678 Helm Street, which was fully engulfed in flames. They were able to put the fire out within about 40 minutes. Nobody was injured and no other structures were affected by the blaze.

Firefighters also responded to another vacant house fire about 2:40 p.m. at 6047 Castlemont Avenue, near East Carey Avenue and Mt. Hood Street.

Fire crews were able to put out the blaze within about 10 minutes. Nobody was injured.

Property damage costs have not been estimated for either fire yet and they remain under investigation.
