Police seek truck after fatal shooting of security guard

Metro Police are seeking a “vehicle of interest” in the fatal shooting of a security guard last week at a southwest valley construction site.

Investigators are looking for a newer model red or orange Chevrolet Avalanche or Cadillac Escalade EXT pickup truck seen in a video, police said. It was last spotted headed south on Hacienda Avenue from Jerry Tarkanian Way, police said.

Police did not say what connection it might have to the investigation.

Mark Steven Santee, 48, of Las Vegas was guarding an apartment complex construction site in the 5100 block of South Jerry Tarkanian Way on April 26 when he was shot to death, police said.

Santee might have interrupted a burglary before getting into a fight with at least one person, police said. His employer reported him missing, and officers found his body about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

He died from multiple gunshots to the head, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
