Las Vegas Sun reporter Jackie Valley was honored by the Education Writers Association for her coverage on how Nevada struggles to assist children battling mental illness.
The series, “Children in Crisis,” earned first place for single-topic news or feature story.
The goal of the awards is to encourage and inspire more and better education journalism, while underscoring the importance of excellent reporting and storytelling.
