Man wanted in Florida nightclub shooting nabbed near Las Vegas Strip, officials say

A man accused of a slaying outside a Florida nightclub was arrested today near the Las Vegas Strip, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Steve Evans, 32, was arrested near Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard South, officials said. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center and was awaiting extradition to Hillsborough County.

Authorities learned Evans fled to Las Vegas after the May 13 incident, officials said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Evans is accused of fatally shooting David Allen Smith, 24, outside the Tiaga Nightclub in Brandon, Fla., after an altercation at the club, officials said.

He was arrested by a task force led by the Marshals Service and including Metro, North Las Vegas and Henderson police officers.
