Firefighters put out blazes at two vacant houses

Firefighters put out fires at two vacant houses Sunday, one that caused about $50,000 in damage and another at a house that burned six months ago, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded about 3:30 p.m. to a two-story house at in the 700 block of Capistrano Avenue, near South Maryland Parkway and East Desert Inn Road, officials said.

Firefighters reported poor visibility and extreme heat in the house, and additional help was requested to assist with the blaze, officials said. It took less than 20 minutes to put out the fire, which caused about $50,000 in damage, official said.

Nobody was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In the other case, a fire was reported about 9:30 p.m. in the yard of a vacant house the 4900 block of Idaho Avenue, officials said.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to the house, officials said. Nobody was injured.

The cause of the blaze has not been determined.

A fire was reported at the same house on Nov. 23.
