A man accused of shooting at officers during a traffic stop last month has been arrested, according to Metro Police.

Jason Simpson, 41, was arrested today on counts including attempted murder, possession of controlled substance and possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.

Officers in an unmarked police vehicle spotted Simpson about 9:30 p.m. May 18 driving recklessly on Rancho Drive, police said.

After he was pulled over in a parking lot in the 2900 block of Sahara Avenue, Simpson fired a round through the car’s back window as officers approached, police said. Nobody was injured, and the car sped away, police said.

Details about the arrest were not immediately available.

Simpson was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on three counts of attempted murder and counts of prohibited person in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm on a prohibited area, resisting a police officer with a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and driver disobeying police and endangering multiple people, authorities said.

No bail has been set, and Simpson is scheduled to appear in court June 8, according to jail logs.
