Reno man killed in wrong-way highway collision

Authorities say one driver is dead and another was hurt in a wrong-way collision in Northern Nevada.

Nevada Highway Patrol officials say the accident happened Friday around 11 p.m. on Pyramid Highway near Spanish Springs.

According to investigators, 56-year-old Bret Harris, of Reno, was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lane of the two-lane highway.

His vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by 19-year-old Andrea Perrine, of Sparks.

The NHP says Harris, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died of his injuries at the scene.

Perrine was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say she was wearing a seatbelt.

There were no other occupants in either car.

Investigators have not determined what may have caused Harris to drive the wrong way.
