Traffic snarled by several accidents, including truck overturn on US-95

A crash on U.S. Highway 95 near Sunset Road was among several accidents that caused tie-ups this morning for Las Vegas commuters.

The Regional Transportation Commission reported at 7:05 a.m. that southbound lanes of US-95 had been closed because of the accident. One lane remained open. A passerby reported that a truck had overturned and that traffic had backed up to the Flamingo Road exit.

Elsewhere, as also reported by the RTC:

• The right westbound lane of the 215 Beltway near Valle Verde was blocked by an accident at 7:11 a.m.

• A crash at 7:28 a.m. on Interstate 15 southbound past Russell Road blocked the right lane.

• At 7:43 a.m., a non-injury accident involving five vehicles blocked westbound lanes of Cheyenne Avenue at the 215 Beltway led to lane blockages.

Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jason Buratczuk said that as of about 9:15 a.m., traffic was flowing again after the first three accidents. But the left turn lane to southbound 215 remained closed as authorities cleared up the scene at Cheyenne Avenue.
