Motorized trike rider, 75, critically injured in crash

A 75-year-old man riding a Honda trike was critically injured Wednesday night when he crashed into two stopped cars at a traffic light, according to Metro Police.

The rider, Frederick Marquardt of Las Vegas, was taken to University Medical Center, police said. Three other people suffered minor injuries, police said.

The wreck happened about 8:15 p.m. on Rainbow Boulevard, just south of Desert Inn Road. Marquardt was riding north on Rainbow when he crashed into the back of the stopped cars and was thrown from the trike, police said.

The collision remains under investigation, police said.
