During a commotion at an apartment complex in which a drug-addicted man allegedly attacked several residents, he and a married couple he was roommates with were seen entering their first-story apartment near Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road.

Only Frank Interlicchia, 50, exited alive, according to Metro Police.

Robin and Kelly Naples, who had recently taken him in after he was kicked out from another apartment in the complex, died from "massive wounds" to their heads and faces, according to Interlicchia's arrest report.

The blood-splattered Interlicchia told detectives he injected heroin prior to the slayings, police said. He appeared lucid when detectives spoke to him.

Police received two calls about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday to the complex in the 5000 block of Palo Verde Road.

"He looked crazy"

Before the attacks, Interlicchia had entered the apartment of a neighbor he used to live with to lie down on her bed, she told police.

Also according to the report:

Blood oozed onto the bedding from heroin-track marks so she asked him to leave. That's when Interlacchia attacked her roommate before they all exited her apartment.

The woman then locked herself inside, but she said Interlicchia, who she had described as looking crazy, kicked in the door.

She fled and asked Kelly Naples and another roommate of the couple for help.

Naples and the man tried to calm Interlacchia down, but he started to strike them with a "stick," the woman said.

Interlicchia entered the apartment alongside Kelly Naples, whose wife was already inside.

The woman reported hearing Robin Naples screaming before officers arrived.

Arriving police forced their way into the apartment when they heard noises and found two dead bodies and Interlicchia stained with blood. He initially told officers that "some guys came through the door and he had to 'bash them.'"

It wasn't immediately clear what murder weapon was used, but police found a bloody claw hammer and wrench near the bodies, and neighbors had said Interlicchia had been armed with a baseball bat.

Interlicchia was booked on two counts of murder and one count of home invasion, jail records show.

Lucid conversation

Interlicchia appeared coherent when he spoke to detectives. He had apparent heroin-injection wounds that were bleeding and several other minor injuries.

He said he'd injected about a gram of black heroin daily and would also inject meth when he came across it, police said.

On the 15-minute drive to the police station, the man spoke about living in Las Vegas his entire life, his childhood, his era as a high school football player, and his days as a casino dealer. His pulse was normal, and so were his eyes. He was not sweating nor hot to the touch, police wrote.

He requested an attorney before police could question him in the slayings.
