A father, already in jail in an unrelated case, has been booked on a count of murder in the death of his missing 13-year-old son, Metro Police announced today.

Paul Darell Jones, 33, was booked today after detectives developed “substantial information” in the disappearance and death of his missing son, Aaron Jones, police said today.

Paul Jones remains at the Clark County Detention Center, where he has been held since April 1, police said.

Aaron Jones was reported missing on April 14, though family members had not seen Jones since December, police said. Relatives found a decomposed body in a desert lot Tuesday, but police have not yet confirmed it is that of Aaron Jones.

In a jailhouse interview on Wednesday, Paul Jones said his son ran away from home a “couple of months ago” and that he had nothing to do with his disappearance. He said he didn’t report it because he had a warrant out for his arrest.
