CARSON CITY — The Peppermill casino in Reno is the latest company in Nevada to leave NV Energy.
The state Public Utilities Commission approved a stipulation this week to let the hotel-casino buy its power from outside Nevada. But it must pay an up-front cost of $3.3 million so other ratepayers will not see increased rates due to the departure.
The Peppermill will buy power through the Western Electricity Coordinating Council starting Jan. 1.
