‘Person of interest’ sought after Heller gets threatening letter

Metro Police today released video footage of a “person of interest” in a Sunday incident in which a threatening letter was left for U.S. Sen. Dean Heller outside his Las Vegas office.

The man was described as a heavyset white man between 50 and 60 years old, police said. He had a gray beard and was wearing a black Oakland Raiders ball cap, a short-sleeved collared shirt and shorts.

Officers were dispatched about 9 a.m. Sunday to Heller’s office in the 8900 block of Sunset Road, near Durango Drive, after a burglary alarm was triggered, police said.

Investigators found the letter near the door to Heller’s office, police said. Neither Heller’s office nor Metro would comment on the contents of the letter.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call police at 311. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.
