Gorman blanks Palo Verde, advances to face Faith Lutheran in Sunset semifinals

JoJuan Claiborne had a fumble return for a touchdown tonight for the Bishop Gorman High football team, helping the Gaels extend their shutout streak to seven games in a 59-0 victory against visiting Palo Verde in the Sunset Regional quarterfinals.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns, including an 85-yard scoring strike to Brevin Jordan. Jordan, the Miami commit, had nearly 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Jalen Nailor and Jimmy Telles had the other two touchdown receptions for Gorman, who also received a pair of touchdown runs from Amod Cianelli.

Gorman advances to the semifinals to face Faith Lutheran. It limited Faith Lutheran in the same round of the playoffs last season.

“They want to go fast,” Gorman coach Kenny Sanchez said of the Faith Lutheran offense.
