Metro Police ID officer involved in shooting

Metro Police have identified an officer they say shot a man last week who charged police with what later turned out to be a pellet gun.

Officer Julien Pappas, 28, has been with Metro since November 2014, police said. He has been on paid administrative leave, pending a review of the Oct. 11 incident, police said.

According to police, officers accompanied a woman to retrieve items from a home in the 100 block of Moonlight Drive, near Charleston and Lamb boulevards, after earlier responding to domestic violence call.

While they were there, the woman’s boyfriend showed up, crashed a pickup truck into an unoccupied police cruiser and charged at officers with the pellet gun, police said.

Pappas fired multiple rounds, striking the man at least once, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, police said.
