3 months jail for Nevada mom who fired gun at school bus stop

ELKO — A mother who fired a gun during an argument at a school bus stop in Elko County last year has been sentenced to three months in jail.

The Elko Daily Free Press reported Thursday 31-year-old Samantha Noel-McLean also has been ordered to complete 25 hours of community service and pay $2,670 in fines and fees.

Noel-McLean was found guilty in Elko Justice Court earlier of drawing a deadly weapon in a threatening manner, aiming a firearm at human beings and discharging a firearm in a public thoroughfare.

No one was hurt.

The late afternoon incident occurred in Osino near Elko during the first week of school last August before the bus returned with children.

Sheriff's deputies say Noel-McLean pulled a handgun during a disagreement between parents. A struggle ensued and the gun fired a bullet into the ground.
