Christina Aguilera performs at the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, in New York.

Six-time Grammy Award-winning singer Christina Aguilera is the newest resident headliner on the Las Vegas Strip, announcing today her brand-new show “The Xperience” opening May 31 at Zappos Theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort.

Aguilera’s show continues the march of female superstars dominating the Strip, as Gwen Stefani and Lady Gaga have launched Vegas productions in the last year, following in the footsteps of Celine Dion, Cher, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, who announced her latest show in October but postponed it indefinitely to focus on her family.

“The Xperience” should fill the void. Aguilera also arrived as a teen pop princess in 1999 with breakthrough hits “Genie in a Bottle” and “What a Girl Wants,” and she’s sold more than 43 million records worldwide including five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She’s got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was the only artist under the age of 30 named to Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.

“’The Xperience’ is going to be my most ambitious show yet,” Aguilera said in a statement. “Getting to perform in this adult playground we call Las Vegas is inspiring me to bring forth all of my talents in a mind-blowing theatrical experience—song, dance, visuals and uninterrupted high energy. For years I have been collecting ideas and concepts that have yet to be implemented on my stages, and Las Vegas is the perfect opportunity for me to collectively showcase my artistry.”

She performed at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on October 27 as part of her Liberation tour and has already announced sixteen dates for “The Experience” at Zappos Theater: May 31; June 1, 5, 7, 8, 13, 15 and 16; September 20, 21, 24, 27 and 28; and October 2, 4 and 5. Tickets are on sale February 2.

Zappos Theater is also home to headlining shows from Stefani and the Backstreet Boys, with the latter finishing their Vegas run in the spring. Another resident act is expected to be announced at that venue soon.
