In times of pandemic, walking dogs and going for a jog are OK at Clark County parks, however activities like disc golf, tennis, handball and horseshoe are not.

Clark County announced today further restrictions of activities at the roughly 100 parks it operates following Gov. Steve Sisolak’s order this week for more-enhanced social distancing protocols to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

Playgrounds, restrooms, dog parks, courts, sports fields and splash pads had already been closed prior to Wednesday’s directive. But now, disc golf courses, tennis courts, pickleball courts, skate parks, bocce courts, horseshoe pits, handball courts and park exercise material have been added to the list.

The updated directive from Sisolak, which also targeted golf courses, store showrooms and some grocery-store offerings, runs through April.

As of Thursday, the novel coronavirus had 2,009 confirmed infections in Clark County, killing 71 locals, according to the Southern Nevada Health District. Experts argue that stringent social distancing helps keep infections lower.
