Residents anxious to get back outdoors after more than a month at home out of coronavirus concerns will be able to find some relief starting Friday.

Clark County recreational facilities like tennis, pickleball and disc golf courses will be available for play following Gov. Steve Sisolak’s directive to gradually reopen the state. The county didn’t indicate if basketball courts would also be available.

Sisolak is also lifting restrictions on some curbside retail businesses, drive-up church services and golf courses. Most have been shuttered since mid-March.

“The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted our lives dramatically,” Clark County Commission Chairwoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick said. “Our residents need safe recreational outlets and I’m glad we’re moving in that direction with these openings.”

Check with private golf courses throughout the state for information. The county-operated Sunrise Golf Course will reopen at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

“Recreation has always been important for your physical health, but it is especially important now for your mental well-being during times of stress and uncertainty,” said Clark County Parks and Recreation Director Daniel Hernandez. “We are excited to start moving in the direction of reopening, even if it is a little at a time.”

The county operates 100 public parks. A complete list of the locations and site amenities can be found here
