Henderson Police ID officers involved in shooting

Henderson Police today identified two officers involved in a shooting Monday that left a man hospitalized.

Officers James Brown and Cody Obergh have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, police said.

Brown has been with the department since July and Obergh since December 2017, police said.

Brown and Obergh responded about 7 a.m. Monday to the 100 block of Metropolitan Drive after someone reported a person trying to break into parked vehicles, police said.

The officers encountered Kenneth Dehart, 23, at the scene and a brief foot chase ensured, police said. Dehart pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun, prompting Brown and Obergh to open fire, police said.

Dehart was struck and taken to a hospital, where he was expected to recover, police said.

Police said it appears Dehart had a replica gun. He was booked at the Henderson Detention Center in absentia on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a protected person, police said.
