Chase Otteson had an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown today for the Virgin Valley football team in a 42-0 victory against host Western.

Gunner Cortez hooked up with Jared Jensen for touchdown receptions of 10 and 40 yards and with Cutler Crandall for an 8-yard scoring strike as the Bulldogs (7-1) won their fourth straight game.

Isaiah Frieling had touchdown runs of 20 and 35 yards for Virgin Valley, who closes the regular season next week with the “Hammer Game” against rival Moapa Valley in the rematch of the 2021 state championship game. Moapa Valley prevailed last year, 27-14.

“There’s not a lot of secrets (against Moapa Valley),” coach Matt Woods said. “It will come down to whoever comes out and plays and executes. It should be a good game for sure.”
