The Spring Valley football team allowed Desert Oasis to bring the ball inside the 20-yard line four times tonight.
And each time, the defense was up to the task in a 33-6 win, Grizzles coach Marcus Teal said.
That’s especially true for Kory Villarreal, who intercepted a pass in the end zone and raced 101 yards for a touchdown. And on another play Ethan Shuford scooped up a fumble and rushed the other way for the score.
“Both plays were really momentum changers,” Teal said. “It really took a lot of air out of their sails.”
The same could be said for running back Tipisone Manu, who had touchdown runs of 45 and 1 yards, and was tough to tackle all night.
“He’s a grinder,” Teal said. “He continues to impress every week.”
Alec Livingston took a screen pass from Ti’shaun Ereaux-jackson about 40 yards for the other Spring Valley points. The Grizzlies improved to 3-1 for the first time since 2008, Teal said.
