Freshman Trey Jackson had a pair of interception returns for a touchdown tonight for the Desert Pines football team in a 28-10 victory against host Green Valley.
Jackson’s plays — returns of 103 and 85 yards — swung the momentum of the game in the favor of the Jaguars, who won their fifth straight game.
Another freshman, Massiah Mingo, had touchdown receptions of 6 and 10 yards as the Jaguars won their fifth straight game.
“So, the freshmen carried us,” Desert Pines coach Tico Rodriguez said.
While Desert Pines won, it wasn’t pretty in the fourth quarter as they were called for many penalties, the coach said.
“We have to become a smarter team,” he said. “We play with a lot of emotion. We are going to have to learn how to play cleaner. We’ll get that fixed on Monday.”
