Pedestrian hit and killed by tow truck while crossing Sahara in Las Vegas

A man was killed after being hit by a tow truck Sunday evening, according to a Metro Police news release.

At about 7 p.m., as the pedestrian was crossing Sahara Avenue east of Nellis Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk, the tow truck was traveling west on Sahara.

The pedestrian started to run as the tow truck neared. The driver hit his brakes and swerved to try to avoid the man, but still hit him, the release stated.

Responding emergency personnel declared the 67-year-old man dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old driver showed no signs of impairment, the release stated.
