Officers investigating a report of a stolen vehicle opened fire on a man who bailed out of the vehicle in a fast-food drive-thru and pulled a gun, according to Metro Police.
The male, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The incident was reported about 9:30 p.m. Thursday near the 1800 block of West Charleston Boulevard, police said.
Officers spotted the vehicle in the drive-thru and initiated a high-risk stop, police said.
During the stop, a male fled from the passenger side of the vehicle, and officers chased him on foot, police said. He fled to the 1700 block of West Charleston and pulled a gun, prompting officers to open fire, police said.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken into custody, police said.
The incident marked the 10th officer-involved shooting for Metro this year.
