Metro Police seek help on ID’ing suspects in Las Vegas teenager’s death

Metro Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying two suspects in the death of 17-year-old Jonathan Lewis, who was brutally attacked near Rancho High School on Nov. 1, according to a news release.

Police posted photos of two outstanding suspects on YouTube on Wednesday.

Eight people, all between the ages of 13 and 17, have already been arrested and booked into Clark County Detention Center on an open murder charge, police announced Tuesday.

Metro Lt. Jason Johansson, in a Tuesday news briefing, said police investigators learned that Lewis was standing up for a friend who was challenged to an after-school fight over a pair of wireless earbuds and a marijuana vape pipe. When the friend went into an alley to fight another student over the thefts, Lewis joined him. Video, he said, shows Lewis taking off his shirt and the moment a punch was thrown 10 others started kicking, punching and stomping Lewis, who did not defend himself.

After being on life support at a hospital, Lewis died Nov. 7.
