Police: Pedestrian hit, killed while crossing Las Vegas street

A man was pronounced dead Sunday after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing a Las Vegas street against a pedestrian signal, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 8 p.m. at Flamingo and Lindell roads, police said.

A 71-year-old Las Vegas man was crossing Flamingo when he was hit by car and thrown onto the road, police said. The car stopped and was struck from behind by an SUV, which then ran over the pedestrian, police said.

The pedestrian, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the car, a 74-year-old Las Vegas man, and a passenger suffered minor injuries, police said. The driver of the SUV, a 41-year-old California man, was not hurt, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
