Las Vegas police: Pedestrian hit by car, critically injured

A pedestrian was critically injured early today while crossing a Las Vegas street outside of a marked crosswalk, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 1:20 a.m. today on Charleston Boulevard, west of Commerce Street, police said.

A car was headed westbound on Charleston when it struck the pedestrian, a 42-year-old Laughlin man, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver, a 32-year-old Las Vegas man, was not injured. He remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
