Nevada U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen and four Senate colleagues are back in the United States after a weekend trip to Israel, where the senators met with leaders of the Jewish state in the aftermath of horrific attacks a week earlier by Hamas terrorists.

The senators met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s War Cabinet, President Issac Herzog, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid, and families of those taken hostage.

“In Israel’s moment of need, our bipartisan Senate delegation visited to reaffirm the strong, unwavering and unconditional support from both sides of the aisle in the United States. Israeli government officials told us what they need to defend their citizens and defeat Iran-backed Hamas, and I’m committed now more than ever to pass an aid package that gets them these resources,” Rosen said, according to a news release from her office.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the first Jewish Senate majority leader, led the delegation, which also included Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and Mitt Romney of Utah, along with Democrats Rosen and Mark Kelly of Arizona.

Rosen, the former president of the Congregation Ner Tamid synagogue in Henderson, said the Israeli officials told the senators what they needed to defend their citizens and defeat Hamas.

“I’m bringing one central message to my Senate colleagues,” said Rosen, the only Jewish woman in the U.S. Senate. “This is the time to take decisive action to help Israel. We cannot allow partisan politics to get in the way. I’ll continue leading efforts with Republicans and Democrats to make sure we get the Israeli people the support and resources they need as quickly as possible.”
