The Clark County School District is managing the disruption of internet service this morning and is working with Cox Communications to restore the connectivity, officials said an early morning social media post.

Classes will continue as scheduled, it said. Some transportation may be delayed.

The interruption is “affecting District operations, including internet, email and intermittent phone service,” the social media post said.

Cox said it had identified construction-related damage to its fiber conduit in Las Vegas. A company spokeswoman said she did not have information on the number of customers or the service area impacted.

"All resources are dedicated to restoring services as soon as possible to those impacted; however, repairs may be ongoing throughout the day," the company said in a statement.

The internet outage comes the same week that a cybersecurity breach forced CCSD to limit access to Google Workspace, including Google Drive and district email accounts, to schools and administrative buildings only. The district continues to investigate the breach.
