The Eldorado football team beat Pinecrest 32-19 Thursday night for a playoff victory.
After the game, coach Darryl Tootle started talking with some of his teaching colleagues at the school trying to answer a simple question: When was the last time Eldorado won a playoff game?
The short answer: Nobody is all that certain.
“Let’s just say it’s a long time coming,” Tootle said. “It has to be more than 20 years.”
Xavier Delgado had two touchdowns in the first half, and Jaeshawn West rushed for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns to put the game away.
Eldorado is looking for a duplicate effort next week when it plays league champion Sunrise Mountain in the next round of the playoffs.
“Tonight was a major celebration,” the coach said. “The kids were very excited for what we accomplished.”
