Metro Police are investigating officers’ use of force in a stabbing incident this morning in which the suspect and victim both died, according to a news release.
Officers responded to a call of a man stabbing a woman and himself at an apartment complex in the 8800 block of Canyon Rim Way at about 10:48 a.m., the release stated.
Officers found a female victim suffering from apparent stab wounds and learned that a fire was set inside an apartment.
Additional arriving officers encountered the apparent armed suspect on West Desert Inn Road, the release stated. As the suspect began to walk toward occupied vehicles on the roadway, the officers struck him with their patrol vehicle and later took him into custody, according to the release.
The man died at the scene. The woman was taken to UMC Trauma, where she died.
Per Metro policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.
