Jared Evans recovered a fumble on the last play of the first half for the Moapa Valley football team and raced for a touchdown, helping the Pirates blank visiting Chaparral, 33-0.
Brent Lewis has been roaming the Moapa Valley sideline for more than two decades. Only once — in the early 2000s at Hurricane of Utah — does he remember there being this kind of rain.
“That was a grass field,” he recalled, detailing standing in deep puddles on the sideline.
Tyson Redd and Shandon Matheson accounted for rushing touchdowns in helping Moapa Valley improve to 2-1 overall.
