Las Vegas police: Motorist arrested on DUI count after pedestrian hit, killed

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early today, and the driver was arrested on a count of driving under the influence, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 1:05 a.m. on Twain Avenue, East of Jones Boulevard, police said.

A 67-year-old Las Vegas man was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck, police said. The man, whose name was not released pending notification of family members, died at the scene, police said.

The driver, a 33-year-old California man, showed signs of impairment and was arrested on a DUI count, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
