Police seek suspect in fatal hit-and-run case Sunday night in Las Vegas

Police are seeking the driver in a suspected a hit and run that killed a bicyclist Sunday night in eastern Las Vegas, according to a Metro Police news release.

Officers initially responded at about 9:15 p.m. to a report of a fatal collision between the vehicle and the bicyclist Sunday on East Lake Mead Boulevard east of the intersection with Mount Hood Street.

According to the investigation, a Honda Accord was traveling east on Lake Mead at a high rate of speed. As the bicyclist riding north was crossing Lake Mead, a collision occurred when the bike traveled into the path of the Honda. The rider was struck and projected onto the roadway.

The 54-year-old bicyclist was transported to UMC Trauma, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The Honda failed to remain at the scene. It was spotted by detectives today, but they were unable to identify the driver and are still searching for the suspect.
