A man who had just stepped off a public bus was hit by a car and and mortally injured as he walked along a sidewalk, according to Metro Police.
The incident happened about 7:50 a.m. today on Flamingo Road, just west of Pearl Street, police said.
The pedestrian was walking on the north sidewalk when a car headed west on Flamingo swerved onto the sidewalk as traffic ahead of him slowed, police said.
The car collided with a streetlight pole before hitting the pedestrian, police said. The car then hit the bus shelter and the bus, police said.
The pedestrian, a 67-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the car, a 32-year-old Las Vegas man, suffered minor injuries, police said.
Neither the driver of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada bus nor a passenger were injured, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
