VGK vs Canucks

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Noah Hanifin (15) celebrates with center Jack Eichel (9) after scoring against Vancouver Canucks during the first period of an NHL hockey game at T-Mobile Arena Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

The Golden Knights gave up conditional first- and third-round draft picks last month in acquiring defenseman Noah Hanifin from Calgary at the league trade deadline.

It was a calculated risk, considering Hanifin was months away from being an unrestricted free agent. Vegas took care of the contract today.

The Knights are signing the 28-year-old Hanifin to an eight-year extension with a $7.35 million average annual value, the franchise said.

Hanifin has nine points in 16 games with Vegas and leads the team with a +7 rating. He’s got 44 points (13 goals, 31 assists) for the season — the second time in his career he surpassed 40 points.
