Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury (29) sprays water on his face during the first period of an NHL hockey game against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena Friday, April 12, 2024.

Marc-André Fleury was consistently asked this season about when he would be retiring from the NHL.

The legendary goalie finally has an answer: At the end of the 2024-25 season.

Fleury, who many say is the most popular player in Vegas Golden Knights history, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with his current team, the Minnesota Wild. The franchise announced the deal this morning.

“I’ve been asked a lot about what’s next for me,” he told the media in Minnesota. “It’s good that this is settled and I don’t have to talk about it for another year.”

Fleury came to the Golden Knights from Pittsburgh during the 2017 expansion draft. He proceeded to help Vegas reach the Stanley Cup Final in their maiden season in becoming one of the city’s all-time athletic icons.

Fleury, 39, played with Vegas through 2021, a season in which he was awarded his first Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goaltender.

He's played in 39 games this season for the Wild, winning 17 times and recording a pair of shutouts. He has a 2.98 goals against average.

Next season will be his 21st, a career spanning more than 1,000 games and three Stanley Cup championship with Pittsburgh.

“I’m grateful to keep doing what I love for one more season,” he said.
