Las Vegas police: Motorist killed in crash after SUV runs red light

A motorist was killed Sunday when an SUV ran a red light and collided with a car in the intersection, according to Metro Police.

The crash was reported about 4:15 p.m. at Desert Inn and Lindell roads, police said.

The car was southbound on Lindell with a green light when the SUV, which was headed west on Desert Inn, failed to stop at a red light, police said. The SUV struck the left side of the car, police said.

The driver of the car, a 68-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the SUV, a 27-year-old Las Vegas woman, reported minor injuries, police said. She showed signs of impairment and was arrested, police said. No additional details were released about the arrest.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
