Las Vegas police: Officers shoot person who charged them with knife

Officers shot and critically wounded a person who charged at them with a knife while they were involved in an unrelated incident east of the Las Vegas Strip, according to Metro Police.
No officers were injured, police said.
The shooting occurred about 4:30 a.m. today near Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, police said.
Officers had stopped a person when a vehicle pulled up and the driver got out armed with a knife, police said. He ignored commands to drop the knife and charged at the officers, who opened fire, police said.
The wounded individual was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, police said.
No additional details were immediately released. The incident resulted in Metro's eighth officer-involved shooting of the year.
