Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle in Las Vegas’ 1st traffic fatality of 2024

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday, according to a Metro Police news release.

At about 5:40 p.m., a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling west on Saint Rose Parkway west of South Maryland Parkway as the pedestrian was attempting to cross Saint Rose outside of a marked crosswalk as a torrent of rain was coming down. The pedestrian crossed in front of the Jeep and was struck, according to the release.

Responding medical personnel declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The Jeep’s driver remained at the scene, and impairment was not suspected, the release stated.

The incident marked the first traffic fatality of the year, according to the release.
